Why We Sacked Ndume as Majority Chief Whip, Ordered Him to Leave Our Party – APC Opens Up
The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday removed Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC-Borno South) from his position as the Majority Whip of the Senate. Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno (APC-Borno North) was appointed as his replacement.
The APC stated that the decision was necessary due to Ndume’s recent comments against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. Ndume had claimed on a live program on Arise Television that the federal government is being run by thieves.
The party’s decisions were detailed in a letter addressed to the Senate President and read by Senator Godswill Akpabio during plenary. The letter, signed by APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru and National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, also advised Ndume to resign from the party.
Following Akpabio’s directive, the Sergeant-At-Arms escorted Monguno to the Majority Whip seat. In a minor Senate Committee reshuffle, Ndume was named the new chairman of the Senate Committee on Tourism and was stripped of his Vice Chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Appropriation.
