President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has explained why he chose to mark his 74th birthday in a low-key manner, saying the decision was guided by the current realities facing the country.

In a message to Nigerians, the president said the subdued celebration aligns with prevailing national circumstances, noting that it reflects “the nation’s mood.”

Tinubu expressed appreciation for the goodwill messages and prayers received from citizens, stating, “I’m filled with joy and gratitude for the opportunity given me to serve this great nation.”

He acknowledged that the country has faced significant challenges since the start of his administration’s reforms but maintained that progress is being made. According to him, “our sacrifices have not been in vain,” as there are emerging signs of improvement.
