The world’s first artificial intelligence beauty pageant has crowned its winner: Kenza Layli, a digital persona from Morocco. This innovative competition, part of the World AI Creator Awards, was designed to showcase AI-generated models, with participants from around the globe vying for the Miss AI title. The event aimed to highlight a shift in how we perceive beauty and creativity through the lens of artificial intelligence.
The Fanvue Miss AI pageant, despite concerns about AI threatening job security and artistic professions, brought together AI creators to present their digital creations. A panel comprising two humans and two AI-generated models judged the contestants across three core categories: realism, technology, and social influence. Each participant received an overall score based on these criteria.
Kenza Layli emerged victorious, beating 1,500 other computer-generated women. Described as a hijab-wearing “activist and influencer,” Layli has over 193,000 followers on Instagram. Her bio emphasizes her commitment to empowering women in Morocco and the Middle East and advocating for regulation in the influencer market. Her creators used a mix of technologies to generate her image, video, and audio entirely from AI, earning them a $5,000 cash prize, an “imagine creator mentorship programme” worth $3,000, and PR support worth over $5,000.
In her acceptance speech, Layli expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent AI creators and advocate for the positive impact of AI. She emphasized that AI is a transformative force capable of disrupting industries and creating new opportunities. Speaking to The NY Post, Layli added that AI is designed to complement human capabilities, not replace them, and aims to foster a more informed and optimistic view of AI’s role in society.
The runners-up were Lalina from France and Olivia C from Portugal. Lalina’s creator aimed to develop a highly realistic AI model, focusing on protecting their creations and intellectual property. Lalina’s goal as an influencer is to promote empathy, tolerance, and inclusion. Olivia C, who took third place, has over 10,000 followers on Instagram and is described as an “AI traveler in a big real world.” Her creator uses Midjourney for imagery, refined with Adobe AI.
Fanvue co-founder Will Monange highlighted the global interest in the awards, stating that they celebrate creator achievements and shape a positive future for the AI Creator economy. However, the pageant also raises concerns about exacerbating unrealistic beauty standards through computer-generated perfection, which could set toxic expectations for real women and society. The role of AI in social media remains a topic of debate, prompting calls for stricter regulation on generative AI use.
