I Would Like To Be Pope – Trump Tells Reporters

US President Donald Trump has shared an AI-generated image of himself dressed as Pope.
Trump posted the image on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Saturday morning.
The picture, which has garnered over 12,000 reactions, has been reposted by the White House’ X handle.
Francis Bergoglio, the last Pope of the Catholic Church, died on April 21, 2025, after a protracted illness.
The conclave to elect a new Pope begins on May 7.
Only cardinals under the age of 80 are eligible to vote, with 135 electors expected to participate from the over 252-cardinal pool.
Last week, Trump jokingly told a battery of reporters that he would like to become the new head of the Catholic Church.
“I would like to be Pope. That would be my number one choice,” he said.
Pressed further, Trump said he had “no preference”, adding that an American cardinal from New York would be a strong contender for the role.
