BREAKING: Kwankwaso Dumps NNPP, Signals Fresh Political Alignment Ahead of 2027
Former Kano State governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has resigned his membership of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), citing ongoing political realignments.
The development, reported by La Palaras, marks a significant shift in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso, a key figure in the NNPP and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, said his decision was driven by the need to reposition himself within the changing political terrain.
According to him, the move is part of a broader recalibration of alliances, stressing that it reflects “political realignment” rather than personal ambition.
The resignation comes amid a wave of defections and shifting loyalties within Kano politics and beyond, following earlier exits by prominent figures from the party.
Kwankwaso’s next political move remains unclear, but the decision is expected to have far-reaching implications for both the NNPP and opposition politics as stakeholders begin early positioning for the next electoral cycle.
