Bobrisky Speaks AS EFCC Launches Probe into Alleged N15 Million Payout Amidst Viral Audio Scandal
Controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, has reacted to a purported viral voice recording of him claiming he bribed officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15million.
On Tuesday night, popular influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, had released the audio.
In the recording, Bobrisky alleged that the bribe was meant to facilitate the unnamed officials of the anti-graft agency to drop the money laundering charge against him.
The crossdresser also made some allegations against Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, and the Controller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Haliru Nababa.
Reacting in a statement, Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, said Dele Oyewale, the Commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had constituted a team of investigators to critically investigate the matter.
“To this end, the commission hereby invites both Okuneye and Otse to make themselves available at its Lagos Directorate to assist investigators unearth the alleged bribery.
“The EFCC wishes to assure the public that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and the result of the findings made public accordingly,” the statement read in part.
However, in an Instagram post on Wednesday, Bobrisky described the audio as fake.
He wrote: “My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC 15 million naira and that I was never in prison.
“I didn’t pay any EFCC money; it is a very big lie. I served my term in full and I came out. Discard any false information.”
