A leading non-governmental organization, Adorable Foundation International (AFI), has expressed profound sadness over the tragic collapse of a two-storey structure at Salvation International School in Busa Buji, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, resulting in the loss of 22 young lives and left approximately 132 others injured.
In a press statement signed on Saturday by the founder, Princess Ada Okeke Amam, and posted on its social media handle, AFI conveyed deep condolences: “Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones affected by this unimaginable tragedy.”
AFI commended the swift and dedicated efforts of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other response teams who worked tirelessly to rescue and support those affected. “Their bravery and commitment in the face of such a heartbreaking event are truly commendable,” the statement read.
The statement added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their children and all those impacted by this tragedy. We stand with the community of Plateau during this difficult time and pledge our support in any way possible.”
In response to the urgent need for blood donations, AFI urged well-wishers to come forward and donate blood to assist the victims. “Your generous contribution can save lives and provide much-needed support to those in critical condition.”
Furthermore, AFI called on the Plateau government to establish a panel of inquiry to investigate the cause of this tragic incident and to ensure that such a catastrophe is prevented in the future. “It is imperative to address the factors that led to this collapse and implement necessary safety measures,” the statement concluded.
