Millions Ready to Support You”: Group Urges Goodluck Jonathan to Contest 2027 Presidency

A coalition group has called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election, declaring that millions of Nigerians are prepared to support his return to power.

The appeal was formally presented to the former president in Abuja on Wednesday, April 9, 2026, through a letter signed by Dr. Tom Ohikere, National President of the Coalition for Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

In the letter, the group said it was representing the interests of Nigerians across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, following months of nationwide consultations. According to the coalition, there is a growing demand for Jonathan to re-enter the political scene and provide leadership amid what it described as widespread hardship and disunity.

“The message is short, direct and simple,” the letter stated, urging Jonathan to “come to the rescue of the nation by declaring interest to contest for the presidency in 2027.”

The group claimed that many Nigerians are increasingly concerned about the current state of the country and see the former president as a unifying figure capable of reversing what it described as an impending national crisis.

It further emphasized that supporters across the country are willing to mobilize in large numbers, noting that “millions are ready to come out and support” his candidacy should he decide to run.

While Goodluck Jonathan has yet to publicly respond to the appeal, the development adds to growing political conversations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Observers say such calls may intensify in the coming months as political alignments begin to take shape.
