Escalating Mideast War: US Boosts Missile Production as Iran Rejects Peace Proposal

The United States has moved to boost its missile stockpile amid intensifying conflict in the Middle East, even as Iran rejected a proposed peace plan aimed at ending the war.

The U.S. Department of Defense on Wednesday announced fresh agreements with defence contractors to increase the production of missiles and key components, citing heavy usage in ongoing operations across the region.

According to officials, the surge in demand follows extensive deployment of interceptor systems by the United States and its allies to counter Iranian retaliatory strikes, raising concerns about dwindling stockpiles.

The development comes against the backdrop of stalled diplomatic efforts. Iranian state television, quoting a senior official, said Tehran had rejected a U.S.-backed peace proposal intended to halt hostilities.

“Iran has responded negatively to an American proposal aimed at ending the ongoing imposed war,” the official said.

The report signals a hardening stance from Tehran, with authorities indicating that any ceasefire would be determined on their own terms rather than external pressure.

A related report further underscored Iran’s position, quoting the same official as saying: “The end of the war will occur when Iran decides it should end, not when Trump envisions its conclusion.”

Despite ongoing backchannel diplomacy, there has been no formal confirmation from Iran’s top leadership on the proposal, and key officials, including the foreign minister, have yet to publicly comment.

The latest developments highlight the widening gap between Washington and Tehran, with both military escalation and diplomatic deadlock deepening uncertainty over how  or when, the conflict might end.
