VP Shettima Jets Out of Nigeria, Leads Talks in Sweden

Vice President Kashim Shettima will embark on a two-day visit to Sweden, representing Nigeria in high-level bilateral discussions on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During the visit, Shettima is scheduled to meet with Crown Princess Victoria, the Swedish Prime Minister, and other key stakeholders to foster closer collaboration between Nigeria and Sweden in areas such as information and communication technology (ICT), innovation, education, digitalisation, sustainable transport, mining, and agriculture.

In a statement released on Wednesday, October 16, Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications confirmed that Shettima will engage both government and private sector leaders to deepen economic ties.

One of the major highlights of the trip will be a meeting with Norrsken, a Stockholm-based venture capital impact investor that recently launched Norrsken22, a $205 million technology investment fund for Africa.

Norrsken22, which is supported by more than 30 prominent unicorn founders, aims to partner with top African entrepreneurs to drive growth in the continent’s tech sector. With 40% of the fund’s investments earmarked for Nigerian technology entrepreneurs, the meeting presents an opportunity to enhance Nigeria’s tech ecosystem.

Additionally, a delegation of 12 Nigerian private companies will accompany Shettima, independently representing Nigeria’s private sector in discussions with Swedish counterparts. While in Sweden, the Vice President will also promote Nigeria’s economic vision and highlight recent reforms aimed at creating a more investor-friendly environment.

He is expected to return to Nigeria on Saturday.
