We Are Ready to Confront You at the Battlefield – Nigeria Military Dares Asari Dokubo

The Defence Headquarters on Thursday challenged former militant leader, Asari Dokubo, to test the Nigerian military’s strength on the battlefield after he threatened to shoot down a military helicopter hovering near his residence.
Maj Gen Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, dismissed Dokubo’s threats as “laughable” and vowed that the military would neutralise him if he dared to show up on the battlefield. Buba stated, “Our mandate is to confront him on the battlefield and take him out.”
Responding to Dokubo’s claims, Buba stressed that while the military is focused on terrorists and insurgents, they would not ignore such threats. “We cannot simply act on someone’s comments without due consideration, lest we be accused of being undemocratic. But if he comes to the battlefield, he will be dealt with.”
He further revealed the military’s ongoing successes in its operations, announcing that over 300 terrorist commanders had been eliminated in recent months. Buba highlighted, “Our aim is to diminish their fighting capabilities, and we’ve been doing just that.”
The military continues to focus on securing various regions in the country, prioritising the elimination of terrorist leadership and recovery of weapons.
