Simon Ekpa Hires US Lobbying Firm to Advance Biafra Independence Cause
Simon Ekpa, a prominent Biafra agitator based in Finland, has engaged the services of an American lobbying firm, Moran Global Strategies (MGS), to advocate for the independence of Biafra in the United States.
Ekpa, who leads a faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) known as Autopilot, signed a contract with MGS in June 2024. This contract, which lasts for a year, outlines the firm’s commitment to promoting Biafra’s cause in the US, seeking recognition of Biafra as an independent state.
MGS, founded by former US lawmaker James Moran, will focus on lobbying key members of the US government, including the Executive and Legislative branches, to support Biafra’s independence.
The firm will also engage with various stakeholders, such as religious and human rights organizations, to garner support for Biafra. The contract specifies a monthly fee of $10,000, with the possibility of renewal after the initial term.
Under the agreement, MGS will provide strategic advice and facilitate interactions with relevant US government entities, aiming to convince the US to recognize Biafra as an independent state.
The firm will also promote Biafra as a potential close ally of the US and a counterforce against Islamic terrorism in the region. Additionally, MGS plans to educate stakeholders on issues related to human rights abuses, religious freedom, and security concerns in Nigeria, advocating for the US to engage directly with Ekpa’s Biafra Republic Government In-Exile (BRGIE).
